Francesca's Feet

We had a bit of a lazy morning today.  It was raining and thundering as the four of us cuddled up in my & Chris's big bed.  At some point, Francesca's feet ended up near Dominic's face and he told her that they didn't even smell bad.  She said "Really?" and he replied:

"Yeah, like cupcakes and rainbows and roses."

Then we all started giggling.  What a cute start to the morning!

It's Official

I hate winter. And cold. And damp. And today it is cold and damp. I had plans to go out and have the hair ripped out of my eyebrows which in itself is great motivation to leave the house. Add the wind and rain on top of it and I'm destined to be a unibrow until next week.

Is it Spring yet?

Slacker yet again

It seems like every time I post, I'm saying "I know I've been slacking" blah blah blah. So I'm not going to say that this time. I'm just going to try to do better. And if I don't, well, there's always New Years' resolutions.

I just updated our Christmas lists on Amazon.com and also here (bottom right side of the blog). It's getting harder each year to make the lists. As the kids get bigger, they really don't need - or even want - many toys. We don't watch that much TV or play video games that often since we're so busy with activities and homework. So what to get them??? I'm giving it my best shot with the lists and getting their help, too, but please let me know if you get anything on them so I can remove the item. Also make sure to double-check the lists before you buy something in case it's already been gotten by someone else (or Santa). As always, gift receipts are good!

TTFN!

Kids' Conversation

I was helping at Francesca's school today and doing a caterpillar/butterfly craft with small groups of kids. My first group was Francesca, Emma, Nathan and Jaden. While they were coloring, this was the conversation:

N: You know, Francesca is my ex-girlfriend.
Me: Really?
N: Yes. And because she's my ex-girlfriend, that means I'm her ex-boyfriend.
Me: Well, who's your girlfriend now?
N: Shea.
J: Francesca is MY girlfriend now. Right Francesca?
F: Yeah!
Me: How about you, Emma? Do you have a boyfriend?
E: No, I just can't deal with that kind of thing right now. I just don't even want to deal with it.
Me: Oh yeah?
E: Yeah, I just can't handle that right now.
Me: That's good. Just be your own woman for a while.
E: Definitely. Oh, and because the boy I like is 13.

Did I mention that they are all 5 & 6 year olds?!?! LOL!

Firetrucks in CT

Dominic cracked me up today. We were behind a Jeep that was jacked up and had a big winch on the back. We were talking about how a winch works and had this conversation:

D: Firetrucks have winches.
M: They do?
D: Yes, at least I think they do. In Connecticut.

Huh??? LOL!!!

Turns out he had read a book where the story took place in CT and there was a firetruck with a winch. See, there often is a reason kids say things that at first make you say "huh?"

Having a daughter is scary

Francesca has been cracking us up - and scaring me more than a little - with her talk of boyfriends, getting married, and having babies. Here's a sampling of a conversation she just had with Chris at the dinner table:

F: Nathan's not marrying me anymore.
C: Why not?
F: Because he's marrying Sophie now, even though he pinky swore with me. And he didn't even un-pinky swear!

From earlier today with Scout:

S: I can't believe you have a boyfriend!
F: Why not? Everyone has boyfriends.
S: What?!?!
F: Yeah. And Sophie's in love with MY BOYFRIEND!

And if she tells me one more time that she's pregnant or can't wait to have a baby, I'm going to duct tape her legs shut until she's 30 and married.

Idol Judging

We're watching some American Idol auditions that I recorded. I asked Dominic what he thought of one of the contestants, and he replied:

"I don't know, Mommy. I'm not a professional judge like Simon."
